In a recent interview, I mentioned being "appropriately attractive". In a recent interview, I mentioned being "appropriately attractive". 1 Peter 3:3-4 says, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."
Of course, as His children, we are called to share the message of Christ. We want to look pleasing to those around us and we want to make good impressions on people, especially because we have been asked in Ephesians to "speak the truth in love". This being known, it is absolutely fine to wear makeup and fix yourself up before you leave the house, but it is not the most important thing. God sees the worth in a "gentle, quiet spirit".
1 Timothy 4:8 reads, "Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next." Exercising gives us energy and with energy comes focus - two things you need when sharing the Word with others. Staying fit allows our bodies to perform at their optimum, but in God's eyes, though that's great, it is even more vital to us that we pay attention to our spirituality because no matter what we do, our physical bodies will eventually fade away, while making Christ Lord will give us eternal life after Christ comes back!
I believe there should be a balance in all things. Personally, I don't like clothes with a lot of design or that does not have sleeves. I prefer to have my hair covered as a reminder of sexual purity and marital unity.
