One of my caregivers has a deep passion for organics, as she believes God gave us the right foods and vitamins and minerals contained in narure, in order for us to be healthy, prosperous and blessed - something He wishes above all else for us as seen in 3 John 1:2.
As I've been spending more time with her, she has taught me basic things about how our bodies react to different temperatures and foods. She's taught me about GMOs and pesticides; "organic" versus "certified organic". I will start my nutrition studies within the next few months, and want to be a prenatal nutritionist. I have found these two apps to be very helpful in watching my food and beverage intake.
The Buddy app is a simple source to learn more about what exactly is in a particular food item and how that food choice will benefit you. The app also tells you if there are usually pesticides used while farming the food, and warns you when to buy the organic form. Certified organic means that the food product has been grown 100% without pesticide exposure or GMOs. Organic generally means that maybe 70% of the food product is purely farmed. The Buddy app is a great go-to for beginners in nutrition.
My next recommendation is the MyPlate app by Livestrong®. The lite version is free. This app allows you to record your meals and the calories, etc. It also shows you how much calories you need to burn in order to reach your desired weight and maintain it. Depending on the app version you download, an exercise tracker may be available.
MyPlate is also a website, so I suggest going there if you don't have access to an app device.
Just so you know, unless you are really wealthy, buying organically may not be the most financially-friendly choice to live off of. That's why the Buddy app is so helpful; it shows you a vast selection of food items and tells you their nutritional value and whether or not it is free from pesticides. You can choose the healthiest of foods and still be helping your body, even if they are not marked as certified organic. You can take your favorite recipe and substitute the unhealthy ingredients with other nutritious alternatives.
