These are the standards I set for myself. It's important to remember that modesty should be individualized and someone's personal modesty standards should never be forced on anyone.
General: I tend to "approve of" clothing that is more plain and roomy. I don't really like a lot of bright, popping color with lots of graphics, text or art design, but it really depends on the article of clothing.
Camisoles are great, I think, because there are some days when I want to wear a certain top that isn't quite as close to the collarbone as I'd like, and camisoles are wonderful at concealing.
I think that really tight clothing that is too fitting to the figure has the potential to cause distraction a and temptation sometimes, but I do believe that it is okay to show your figure when you're not making it the center of attention.
Head:
- headcovering is optional, but is frequently worn in honor of God and future husband. Kerchiefs are great.
Upper Body:
- shoulders must be covered
- sleeves must be no shorter than elbow length, preferably (with certain arm movements, is there a chance that someone could see up your sleeve?)
- head opening should be collar length to be extra sure full chest coverage is achieved at all times
- camisoles can be used for lower cut tops
Lower Body:
- dress hem should be knee-length or lower
- leggings are generally not to be considered as pants
Inappropriate Text/Graphics Include:
- violence (text that is in support of helping wounded soldiers is okay)
- sorcery / whichcraft
- mockery of race, politics, religion, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, ethnicity, etc
- sexual immorality
- disrespect of teacher or parent authority
